The Barn, built by the Foundation in 2005, is being expanded to serve as a year-round facility, allowing for ongoing – not just seasonal – Equine Assisted Psycho-therapy (EAP) programs, as well as other Foundation programs & activities only possible during the warm months.
- The Barn currently features a full row of spacious stalls for up to 8 horses, and has the necessary equipment for 1 to 2 horses for EAP therapy. Recent expansion added a separate viewing and work area.
- Phase 2 adds a concrete floor to the addition, bathrooms, a small kitchen and meeting area, and geo-thermal HVAC that also partially serves the immediately adjacent barn area - allowing at least use of part of the barn year-round, no matter the season.
- Plans also include solar rooftop panels to provide the electricity for the HVAC. Geothermal HVAC and Solar PV will be financed by future energy savings.
The Foundation has launched a fund-raising campaign to support these improvements; which has already raised and spent $40,000.
